Can-Am Traxter MAX DPS HD8

Want a machine that really shows up to work? The Traxter DPS HD8 with its Rotax HD8 V-Twin that delivers 50 hp and 50 lb-ft torque for tough tasks, is truly the sharpest tool in the shed. In this range, the quality of the wheels are made to match the size of the engine; the Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires installed on redesigned durable, lightweight cast-aluminum wheels are sure to conquer even the trickiest terrain.

The Traxter MAX DPS HD8 is fitted with automotive-like technology and fabrication tolerances that are in line with modern pick-up trucks. The high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) grade steel means a more rigid design for taking the strain of heavy-duty jobs. To ensure absolute results, the Can-Am engineers put the Traxter frame through the new rigorous Utility Test Cycle at the winter and summer testing grounds.

Designed to offer less assistance at high speeds and more assistance at low speeds, the Traxter’s Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) improves the steering feel in slow-speed working situations and in more technical terrain.

The Visco-Lok QE front differential combines a lockable rear differential and a 4-mode traction system for multiple choices, depending on terrain or task. With separate front and rear toggle switches, drivers can select between a 2×4 open rear differential for tight turning and turf protection, a 2×4 locked rear for improved 2WD traction, a 4×4 open rear for more manoeuvrability in rugged terrain, and a 4×4 locked rear differential for maximum traction. The rear differential is gear-on-gear to the transmission for better response, no maintenance, better efficiency, and fewer components.

Designed to handle both utility and recreational usage, the Traxter MAX is equipped with a heavy-duty Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA) suspension that returns a full 10-in. (25.4 cm) of travel for a smooth ride—no matter the terrain. Its architecture offers an optimal comfort and drivability in all conditions thanks to a design that minimises camber change to maximise grip.

Inspired by modern trucks, the dual VERSA-PRO bench seat is engineered as a practical 40/20/40 bench that can comfortably accommodate six adults with features like profiled corners to improve entrance/exit of the cab. In addition, the sturdy vinyl cover improves wear resistance, so your Traxter can look newer for longer. The five passenger seats have integrated hooks on their undersides and can also be flipped up to improve onboard storage. Can-Am designers also added front and rear foldable armrests with cup holders— for both yours and your passenger’s comfort.

Removable and water-resistant, the 1.7 gal (6.3 L) toolbox –an industry exclusive– on the open dash allows for users to carry and store tools and other supplies in an organised manner. The 23L of under dash storage with enclosed pocket provides additional storage. Unlike other models, the Can-Am Traxter MAX DPS HD8 has enclosed storage above the gauges and plenty of under-seat storage, so everyone can fit with room to spare. All in all, the Traxter provides a total of up to 61.3L of storage solutions.

Need even more space? The highly durable Cargo box can take up to a 1,000-lb (454kg) load capacity and easily dumps. Strategic features include 5-gal (18.9 l) pail recesses, integrated anchors on the sidewalls and several tie-down points for added convenience. To fully optimise the sizeable cargo box, riders can divide up the box using the integrated recesses. The box allows for both 1×3 and plywood separators and accepts bed extenders for refining the bed’s overall dimensions. Also, the sturdy tailgate can withstand ordinary farm use and serve as a seat during your lunch break (max weight: 250 lb / 113kg).
